"Marble Cave, Stone Co. Mo.; Sold by Archie Sydney Hall Notch, Mo."

"According to the book, "Shepherd of the Hills Country, Tourism
Transforms the Ozarks," by Morrow and Myers-Pinney, the name Marble
Cave was change to Marvel Cave in 1913 (Martin's book incorrectly
states it was 1927). Many of my "Marvel Cave" postcards were
postmarked with dates before 1927. Many of the Hall's postcards were
at one time marked with "Marble Cave" and then changed to "Marvel
Cave" to reflect the new name.
The earliest Marvel (Marble) Cave postcards were made by (in order)
photographers, Earl, Hall, Waltz, Payne, Blake, and Cook." |
